Bundling

what it means

Packaging multiple products or services together at a combined price lower than buying each separately, increasing average transaction size and moving slower-selling items alongside popular ones.

a real example

Fast food combo meals and software 'suites' both use bundling to increase what a customer buys per visit while making the bundle feel like the better deal.

when to use it

When you have complementary products of uneven popularity, and bundling can move slower items while increasing the average basket size of a purchase already happening.

when it backfires

Bundling items customers don't actually want together just makes the whole offer feel padded and can suppress purchases of the strong item on its own.
